Raised in North Dakota, I started performing in bars & lounges at the age of 14 as a solo act.
I have my brother, Jack, to thank for my music career as he was the one who loaded up my equipment, took me to a local bar, and told me to play…which I did that night for two and
a half hours. The next day, Jack drove me from town to town booking gigs. I played as a solo act for three years.
My first band was called "The KLM's" after the first initials of our last names. We played together
for three years. Our claim to fame was that we were all under 21 years old playing in bars and lounges. While our music was
good, our age was a novelty that helped sell us. In the late 1970s I moved to Minot, North Dakota, where I joined a band called "Road Company." I played with Road Company for seven
years. We were a very tight Country Rock band. We had a great following and our fans were always eager to come and see us.
After
Road Company, I hung up my guitar and didn't play regularly again
until 2004, a 20-year hiatus. To my astonishment, I was now
playing in a Florida church Praise Team called "Cross Driven". You have to know,
it was the last place on earth I thought I’d be playing. After playing in bars and lounges, I expected lightning to
strike me dead. I joked with the members of the group that in order for me to feel comfortable playing in church, I needed
to be standing in a box with sawdust and peanut shells, and smelling of stale smoke and beer. Our group not only
played in church 52 weeks a year, we also played at least 26 times a year at all kinds of community events. It was during this time that I wrote and/or
co-wrote about 25 Christian and other songs.
I moved to Oregon in 2006.
After all these years, I am back playing as a solo
act with my guitar and vocals. I do love music. I love interacting with my audiences, and I’m happiest when I’m
helping the audince have a good time. I have a very close relationship with my audiences.
I also play with Jeff Hino & Pete Kozak from time to time as the "Out On Good Behavior"
band!
Come and see me sometime!
